Was the Palace of King David in Jerusalem Found?

King David built this city, which was subsequently named after him, as a capital for the 12 tribes of Israel. Thousands of years later, a team of archaeologists are uncovering the hidden gems below the surface of this truly wondrous city and have made it an adventure for all. Part of the excavations reveals a large building, which may have been King David’s very own palace in Jerusalem!
Since then, the City of David has been home to many kings and various historical events, and offers a gate to a deeper understanding of the origins of modern Jerusalem as well.

Hezekiah’s Tunnel: A legend comes to life

To capture the full magnitude of what was discovered, visitors are allowed to enter some parts of the city such as Hezekiah’s Tunnel also known as the water tunnel. This tunnel was carved underneath the city in preparations for a siege that would leave the Israelite’s without water. The tunnel’s story appears in the bible and was considered more of a legend than history, until the tunnel was found. An inscription in biblical Hebrew unfolded the story of the tunnel and its builders. It was truly one of Jerusalem’s most exciting discoveries. Nowdays, the tunnel is a popular activity for modern visitors who come to the City of David in Jerusalem – especially families. Make sure to wear good water shoes and bring a flashlight as the underground tunnel has no lights and has ankle to waist deep water. For those of you that aren’t a fan of water, don’t despair, there is a dry tunnel as well.
