Avdat’s ruins were a stop on the incense route once, a Nabataean city built where nothing should have survived, its temples and water systems still standing in the Negev. From there the day turns geological: the visitor center for the science of the crater, a hike along the rim for the scale of it, then a 4×4 drops you down into the crater itself, into terrain no walking tour reaches. One guide, one itinerary, built around how much time you want at each stop. Take the ruins slowly, take the crater fast, or the other way around. It’s your day, above the ground and below it.
