The Last Supper Room
The Last Supper Room is located just above the Tomb of David on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. It is a second story room that symbolizes the “upper room” in which Jesus and his disciples held a Passover dinner, on the night before Jesus was captured by the Romans, trialed and crucified. The location of the real Last Supper room also known as coenaculum is not certain, however this location cannot be the actual room since it was build by the crusaders in the 12th century. It is very likely though that the original room is very close by or even under the current room. It is for sure that in the 2nd century AD there was a building on that same spot evidenced by the Roman foundation floors.
In the early 16th century the room was turned into a mosque by the Ottomans, and you can still see Arabic writing on the walls and other Muslim motives. Today, the room is a major Christian and tourist attraction and one of the most Holiest Jewish places.
